SHAPING ASSESSMENT THROUGH COLLABORATION AND SHARED PURPOSE
Learnings from the second Equity in Measurement and Assessment Conference
Co-created in 2023 by NBME, ABMS, ABIM and AAMC, the Equity in Measurement and Assessment Conference (EMAC) brings together experts in measurement, assessment, medical education and diversity, equity and inclusion to delve into a critical topic:
How can we ensure that everyone, regardless of their background, has an equitable opportunity to learn and demonstrate the knowledge, skills and behaviors needed to provide optimal care for all?
Building on its inaugural efforts, the 2024 conference focused on three key areas — progress made, current challenges and opportunities, and how we can remain committed to learner-centered solutions — exploring them through presentations, panel discussions and breakout sessions.
The event is a vital platform for collaboration as we work to develop actionable solutions to benefit all learners through the creation of more equitable assessment processes. Our sustained efforts are essential to shaping a medical education system capable of ensuring the next generation of physicians can learn and develop in an inclusive environment — and emerge fully equipped to serve the patient population. Change takes time, but we remain committed.
