New User Interface for Medical School Services’ Examinations

Posted September 1, 2020

To modernize the look and feel of NBME® Medical School Services’ (MSS) Exams, the user interface (UI) of International Foundations of Medicine® (IFOM®) exams will be updated on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2020.

This past summer, proctors and examinees saw these visual changes on Basic Science, Clinical Science, Comprehensive and Advanced Clinical Science Subject Examination forms.

At a later date, Customized Assessment Services (CAS) exams and NBME® Self-Assessments (including the IFOM Self-Assessment) will also be updated with the new UI, and NBME will keep the medical education community apprised of timelines.

By staggering the release of the new UI in this way, NBME will be able to collect feedback from proctors and students and make any necessary modifications.

Proctors and students do not need to take any action to prepare for this update. In the meantime, we welcome your feedback at NBMEWebTest@nbme.org and are hopeful this new UI will improve the overall exam experience for proctors and students alike.
